Thief River Falls – Ronda Niomi Ellingson Sangrait, of Thief River Falls,  passed away on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at her residence.
Ronda Niomi Ellingson Sangrait was born March 7, 1962 in Dennison, IA, the daughter of Ronald Leland Ellingson and Joy Darlene (Germundson) Ellingson. She was baptized in Dennison, IA. She attended Red River High School, graduating in 1980. After graduation she attended UND and Northwest Technical College, receiving her Associates degree in Accounting with computer emphasis.
Ronda loved to help people. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in several different communities. She taught Sunday School and sang solos at several church services.
Ronda always liked a good “do it yourself” home improvement project like refinishing furniture. She loved to garden and make rag quilts (over 224 quilts), most of which she gave away. She also enjoyed making rag wreaths and doing all types of crossword puzzles.
She worked in several fields from construction to bookkeeping. Some of the places she was proud to work at were: Grafton State School, Budget RV, Wayne’s Heating & Cooling, American Legion, Northern Pride, Dee’s Kitchen, and right before she got sick, Petro Pumper, where she loved her job and they treated her like family. She also co-owned a bar for a few years.
Ronda felt most accomplished by her passion for quilting and her passion for helping others in need. She was rewarded by the smiles on the faces of those she gave her quilts to.
Ronda is survived by her significant other, Mark Sullivan; daughter, Pepper Sangrait; granddaughter, Kyleigh Denning; step-daughter, Chasity Sangrait; step grandchildren, Abby and Mack; sister, Kim (Scott) Philipp; nephews, Barret (Kendrah) Germundson, Dallas (Briana) Germundson; nieces, Sara (Kyle) Beger, Beth (Jared) Peterick; and several great-nieces and nephews; and our baby, Chewy.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Willis and Ida Ellingson, Gunnar and Marie Gudmundson; mother, Joy Darlene Ellingson; and father, Ronald Leland Ellingson.
No services are scheduled at this time.  There will be a Celebration of Life at a later time.
